We watched our son become more and more proficient in third grade math as time went on. Homework was no longer a battle, and his classroom teacher remarked on his growth during our spring parent-teacher conference. Mr. Kotkin laid a solid foundation that continued with our son in fourth grade.

As a result of my son’s regular sessions with Jeff, his confidence increased greatly. He learned skills and strategies that helped reduce anxiety and build resilience. Though my son always ranked Writing as his least favorite subject, he was proud to say that he had lots of new things to write about and even kept a small notebook with him to record his ideas!

Mr. Kotkin’s teaching is characterized by a quest to get students to think deeply about the why’s and how’s of their learning. He frequently asks students to justify their answers, whether correct or incorrect, and encourages students to take positions and give evidence for their positions in a respectful manner…. Mr. Kotkin is a deeply thoughtful, creative, and caring teacher.

Mr. Kotkin consistently demonstrates sound knowledge and understanding of all subject matter areas and the pedagogy it requires by consistently engaging his students in learning experiences that enable them to acquire complex knowledge and skills in each subject.
