Jeff Kotkin is an experienced educator (MA Elementary License, grades 1-6) and tutor with over 25 years of experience working with students of diverse needs and backgrounds. He employs an evidence-based, data-driven approach to academic and social-emotional learning, along with a commitment to equity, inclusion, and anti-racism.

He has taught third and fourth grade at Nixon Elementary School in Sudbury, MA since 2009, and he takes an active role in leadership positions on committees, working groups and in curriculum development. His past and current positions include the Social Studies Steering Committee, School Start Time Committee, Equity Committee, Bridges (Math) Implementation Planning Team, School Advisory Council, LINC (Intergenerational Program) Club Advisor and Facilitator, and Science Committee. 

Jeff is the founder and chief education officer of Archeology 4 Schools, which specializes in using curriculum frameworks to teach public and independent school students the essentials of archaeology and the work that archaeologists do.

Previously, Jeff taught fourth grade at Hunnewell School (Wellesley, MA) and at Brimmer and May School (Chestnut Hill, MA). He also worked as the Education Programs Manager for Historic Neighborhoods Foundation, a non-profit educational organization focused on Boston’s history and architecture. He taught in grades 3-12 classrooms, developed curriculum, and led tours for thousands of suburban and Boston Public Schools students and adults in a variety of neighborhoods, including the South End, Charlestown, Roxbury, Dorchester, and Brighton. 

At Boston’s Museum of Science over four summers, he taught self-designed archaeology and architecture classes to students in grades 2-8.

Jeff is fluent in the Google education suite and in all aspects of remote learning domains. He earned a BA from Brandeis University and completed his Master’s at the University of Massachusetts, Boston. He has the SEI (Sheltered English Immersion) Endorsement for English Language Learners.

He is a former chair and member of Framingham’s Historic District Commission, is an avid bee and chicken keeper, and is trained as an archaeologist. He loves spending time outdoors, hiking, camping, and exploring.
